First Demo Days

We worked on our new old house last weekend! Let me tell you, this house remodel is going to help our marriage in BIG ways. At least, that's what I'm hoping. Because the decisions we have to make together are LIFE THREATENING. Like, what color to paint the wainscoting that we are possibly going to put up in the new bathroom.

Compromise is tough, y'all.

The Floor Plans

I started writing about the things we got done this weekend on the house, but I realized I needed to share the plans first so you can see where I'm going. We've got a lot to do! (Here's the news about our new homestead, in case you missed it!)

The New Homestead

Y'all. It's been a weird year for us. I mean, on the first day of school, I had an appendectomy. That same week, our van died. A week later, we had to buy a new van that actually works and we love. A few weeks later Gideon had a tonsillectomy. Then a couple weeks after that, our goats were savagely attacked and two were killed. This all happened (and more) in the first two months of 2017. I was really getting worried about how the rest of the year was going to turn out.

It's been a little rough.

Jeremy and I have a great marriage. When we do get into a quarrel, because nobody's perfect, we frequently have the same conversation. Things start getting a little heated, I raise my voice, and Jeremy usually says "Baby, I am not mad at you." I am obviously thrilled to hear that he is not mad at me, but feel I must then clarify with, "Thank you, sir, but I think you should know, sir, that you do not, in fact, have any reason to be mad at me, while I, in fact, have a very real reason to be mad at you, and so, sir, I am in fact mad at you!"

Then we both laugh a bit and get on with it.

Welcome to the Homestead Blog Hop!

I've been looking at my March calendar, and I'm getting a little excited. It's pretty empty! I'm hoping things are going to calm down this month.

Pippy and Addy are doing great. We are locking them up every night now, of course, and have blocked the gates with extra fencing. We really think it was dogs, and we think they must have gone over the gates. We also are in the process of moving our solar fence to all the way around the barn and goats' fence. This is for a couple reasons. The goats will have more foraging room during the day and while we are home. When we aren't home during the day, the goats will be protected by two fences. At night, we'll keep them locked up.

We're also talking about how to add some more protection to our animals. We're limited on space, but we didn't get a flock of guineas last year and we think that is one of the things that hurt us. So we're going to get some more guineas. If we ever have room, we'd like to add a miniature donkey to our barnyard. Anyway, maybe in all that free time I'll have in March I'll be able to write some more posts with more information.
