Who Done It?

This is the response I got from the chickens when I asked them. They look guilty to me!

Apparently, we planted some really delicious broccoli and cauliflower. Wish we could've had a taste!
It was either the chickens or the guineas. Most likely the chickens, but the kids have seen the guineas working on some of the plants too.

Whoever it was, has also nibbled at the greens and lettuces, but didn't seem to like those as much. This happened to all of our broccoli plants, even though they weren't all planted together.
So what have we learned today? Chickens (or guineas) love broccoli. On the one hand, I'd like for the birds to have plenty of access to the garden for bug control. On the other hand, I'd like some broccoli. So we'll have to figure out how to do this well.

In other gardening news, our seeds are coming up beautifully. These are radishes, carrots, and turnips. We've had some absolutely wonderful fall weather here with rains, and fogs, and lovely sunny and breezy days. We've had one cool night, but it has felt so much better outside without the heat. I love fall. These little babies seem to love it as well.

I may have to eventually point out to the kids about spreading the seeds a bit better.

This is also coming up in random patches. I'm not sure what to do about it, but it's sweet potato vines coming back. Maybe we harvested too early? Maybe we missed the potatoes? I guess we'll find out at some point.
That's what's happening in our garden these days. Jeremy was right about fall being more our speed, the weeds aren't coming up to disrupt our days with weeding. Now we're just waiting for our plants to finish growing. If they can! Dadgum chickens.
